This boutique hotel is set into a cliff and blended with the natural rock, left bare here and there as part of the décor. The soft curves of white buildings, stones covering the roofs, and materials used: wood, stone, and bamboo connect Cavo Tagoo organically with its surroundings. The crisp, energizing design complements the beautiful view over the city.

Rooms

Individually decorated and designed, all guestrooms and suites embody a contemporary, minimalist look, balanced by the traditional aesthetics of the Cyclades.

Against the soft lines and traditional colors (subtle blue, rose, fuchsia), the architect set shiny marble floors, designer furniture, and huge beds, elegant, spacious bathrooms, large balconies and private pools in some apartments.

Bar and restaurant

Tagoo Kitchen restaurant specializes in contemporary Greek cuisine, but there is also a sushi bar. Lounge Bar, located on the side of an infinity pool has a tropical fish aquarium built into its counter—one of the hotel’s idiosyncratic features.

Lounge chairs around the infinity pool are comfortable, some shaded with canvas roofs, offering respite from the acute Greek sun. In the evening, changing color lights illuminate the swimming pool.

What we love

• The 38-meter-long infinity seawater pool is iconic. There is an aquarium bar and wood decking around it, facing west. It's a place to be and a top spot from which to admire the beautiful Mykonos sunsets
• You may never want to leave your private apartment with swimming pool, but the center of the action is by the pool, with lounge music played all day by an in-house DJ — the trendy and cool vibe is why you come here!
• Cavo Tagoo is located only a short walk from Mykonos, close to restaurants and nightlife. The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle to the town, 24 hours a day
• The buffet breakfast served poolside is generous and tasty
• The hotel facilities include a spa with a steam bath, sauna and couple's massage room, as well as a well-equipped fitness center.
• Great sea view location near Hora

What you should know

• The main pool area is beautiful but placed directly in front of a busy road. It gets quite noisy and there isn't much privacy. The property has no direct beach access
• The Cavo Tagoo Mykonos is popular amongst Instagrammers, and photo sessions and selfie-taking is part of the background noise. Especially the infinity pool is a hotspot, and non-residents tend too swarm the place as well. Book suite with pool for best peace and quiet
• The water in the swimming pools is not heated and can get quite cold, especially in the spring months
• The Cavo Tagoo sea views can be somewhat spoiled by large cruise ships moored in the bay, and some directly in front of the hotel. Worth keeping in mind if Instagram photos are your goal
• This is definitely more of a party hotel, with thumping dance music from breakfast until late at night. The drinks are on the pricey side.
• The town can be reached on foot, but the walk requires braving a busy cliff road without a sidewalk, poorly lit at night.
