The hip-and-happening Sir Victor Hotel is one of Barcelona's most stylish accommodation options—and thanks to the stone wafers on the façade the building is something of a city landmark.

What we love

• The rooftop terrace with a swimming pool offers great views looking out across the jumbled cityscape of Barcelona
• The rooms are well designed, are furnished with very comfortable beds, and sport hi-tech gadgets, including projectors rather than TVs
• Great spa with a very extensive menu. Features include a steam room, sauna, and indoor pool
• Relaxed atmosphere and excellent service from welcoming staff
• Beautiful modern design, and hip public spaces
• Prime location—Sir Victor Hotel is located close to the city’s commercial and business districts, and within an easy walking distance to some of Barcelona's most famous attractions, as well as designer shopping.

What you should know

• This is one for jet-setting urbanistas. The quirky modern-art design may not be to everyone's taste
• This is a party hotel with great nightlife scene around the bar on weekends, not for those seeking peace and quiet — which means it is also not exactly an ideal hotel for families with children, though family-friendly rooms are available
