Designed by acclaimed architects Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, known for their work on projects like Angama Mara in Kenya, North Island in Seychelles, and Chinzombo in Zambia, Leobo Private Reserve features two exclusive buildings: The Leobo Observatory and Leobo Lodge. The Observatory, a true architectural marvel, offers panoramic views, a heated infinity pool, and a rooftop jacuzzi, making it ideal for couples or families seeking an unforgettable escape. Additionally, the Observatory boasts an automated observatory for stargazing enthusiasts, providing an enchanting celestial experience.
” The Observatory is an ultra designed house in the bush, more like a James Bond house if you like.”
— Rory Sweet, Owner
At the Leobo the design seamlessly integrates with the natural landscape, creating a harmonious blend of luxury and wilderness. The architecture of the properties reflects a contemporary yet rustic style, characterized by sleek lines and organic materials that complement the surrounding environment. Spacious interiors are adorned with stylish furnishings and modern amenities, providing guests with both comfort and sophistication amidst the rugged beauty of the African bush. Sustainability is a core ethos, with eco-friendly practices incorporated into every aspect of construction and operation to ensure minimal impact on the pristine wilderness. From the open-air living spaces to the private pool overlooking breathtaking vistas, every detail is thoughtfully crafted to enhance the guest experience and immerse them in the unparalleled beauty of the reserve.
Leobo Private Reserve is well-equipped for fun. There are buggies, mountain bikes, quad bikes, motorbikes, helicopters—and a fully automated, research-grade observatory tower for perusing the night sky in world-class conditions.
The lodge applies no time constraints, no rules, and no limits for using the toys—so the guests can be sure the days will be filled with clay shooting, horse riding, fishing, and most of all safaris.
The Leobo Private Reserve, spanning 80 square kilometers, offers a unique wilderness experience unlike traditional safaris. While it lacks larger wildlife like elephants and lions, it boasts diverse landscapes and allows guests to roam freely without restrictions. With only two properties available for private group rentals, Leobo promises exclusivity and a range of unconventional outdoor activities in a stunning natural setting.
The game drives do not depend on timetables and animal tracking is a bit of a specialty here. The experienced bush guides will show the abundance of wild game on horseback, quad, or from the comfort of a Land Cruiser, all with the commentary of an expert.
The game guides are only part of the entourage. There is a whole team—including the butlers and a talented private chef—to make sure a luxurious and indulgent relaxation encompasses the guests. But even the amount of attention depends on the guests—they will receive as much or as little of it as they wish.
The malaria-free Waterberg area, with the private game reserve, is the real star of the show. This diverse environment is teeming with plains game and birdlife, but it is also rich in geological and archaeological history, with some examples of Bushman rock paintings. With its stunning vistas and unparalleled natural splendor, the Waterberg area offers an unforgettable escape for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
