Contrasts designed for the effect are present throughout the design of the resort. The combination of materials is competent, the colors and patterns are refined. Dark wood, white walls, stone floors, and a well-balanced architecture, together with infinity pools and perfectly maintained lawns are a testament to the sophisticated luxury of Nam Hai.

Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai comprises of 100 detached villas, many with private pools located around sandy coves. They are styled on traditional Vietnamese courtyard houses, and the layout and materials used to ensure maximum relaxation and comfort.

The rooms are multi-level, with a raised four-poster bed, inside & outside showers, and the glass walls leading to the terrace. Luxury guest bathrooms feature huge baths sunk in the floor.

The hotel also boasts two restaurants, three cascading pools, a library and a wonderful spa with relaxation villas erected over the water.

Location

Nam Hai is built on a quiet beach of the South China Sea in central Vietnam, near a sixteenth-century trading port, known today as the town of Hoi An.

One of Vietnam’s most famous attractions, the ancient city of Hue—a must-visit—is in the vicinity too. The journey to Hue takes about three hours by car.

What we love

• The experience of the beachfront Private Retreats. These exclusive villas are surrounded by private tropical gardens and have a private butler ready to cater to every whim. Fancy a sunset barbecue on the beach? No problem. Want the best tailor from Hoi An to come for a custom fitting? Just ask.
• The Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai is well set up for family holidays, with dedicated Chuon Chuon Kids Club for children and a menu of experiences for the whole family, including straw hat making and other craft lessons, and even spa treatments for children
• Speaking of which — the spa is one of the highlights here. There is a whole array of treatments and ceremonies designed to put your mind on the "wellness" path
• A great stretch of private beach in front of the hotel (almost a kilometer)
• Lots of small things are available on a complimentary basis: bicycles, single and double kayaks, steam and sauna, gym, tennis equipment.

What you should know

• The Nam Hai has a good location to explore the town of Hoi An, one of the most interesting attractions of Vietnam and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town has a sleepy charm of the French Quarter and a great street food
• Not all villas come with pools, and only some look out over the sea, and many are positioned for views over the landscaped resort gardens. All have feature private terraces and outdoor rain showers
• The hotel is spread on a large stretch of land (thirty-five hectares), so calling the golf buggy is a necessity (though bikes are provided). That said, the villas are not too close to each other, which ensures privacy
• The Nam Hai hotel was originally conceived as a result of a collaboration between Adrian Zecha (best-known co-founder of the Aman Resorts), a French architect Reda Amalou and Indonesian interior designer Jaya Ibrahim
